A Ceremony of re-dedication of Memorials

The Mayor of Bridgwater, Councillor David Loveridge, having greeted the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, opened the Ceremony at 3 30pm.
He introduced Dr Peter Cattermole, Chairman Bridgwater Heritage Group, who thanked all those who had helped to make the re-dedication possible.
The Mayoress, Mrs Shirley Loveridge, and the Mace Bearer, Mr Chris Hocking were in attendance.

Councillor Julian Taylor, Ward Councillor for Eastover, gave the first Oration - to John Bowen, who died in 1854. taylor - 13Kb

Professor John Mather FGS gave the second Oration to William Baker, died 1853.
He is buried in the Bowen vault.

The party moved to the north-west of the churchyard to listen to the third Oration for the victims of Cholera, 1849, given by Mr Edward Colgan, Chief Executive, Somerset Partnership NHS Trust.

A prayer of re-dedication of the Memorials was given by the Reverend Geraldine Kirk, Vicar of St John the Baptist.
The Archdeacon of Taunton, the Venerable John Reed, gave the Blessing.
