The Greatly Damaged Symons Vault


The Symons family were a prominent Bridgwater family, religiously non-conformist and owners of brick and tile companies. They lived in Octavian House. They were also instrumental in founding the Lions' Club.

Frederick Oswald Symons
A staunch Liberal, he worked as an insurance agent. He was treasurer to the Fore Street Congregationalists, was on the port sanitary authority, St John's burial committee and a trustee of Brent's charity.

Clifford James Symons.
Clifford was managing director of Colthurst-Symons and Co ltd. Brick and Tile Works. He was a prominent non-conformist of the Unitarian church. He was a trustee of the non-conformist section of the Wembdon Road Cemetery among other things.

John Stanley Symons
A member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, an important Bridgwater doctor.
